Disney’s Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is a fun themed restaurant inside Hollywood Studios. Diners are seated in booths that look like old convertibles; everyone is facing a large screen which shows cheesy 1960s sci-fi movie trailers and campy old space-themed cartoons and clips. Our visit was after the park’s closing time, so it wasn’t too busy.
The menu has two vegetarian entrees: my companion ordered the Vegetarian Sheppard’s Pie Sci Fi-style ($13.99) and I had the Vegetable Burger ($12.49).
My burger, which was served with toppings including cucumber and balsamic vinegar sauce, was tasty. The vinegar made the sandwich wet, and since the meal was served in a basket, it got kind of messy. I think this would have been better served on a plate.
By nature of the theming, the restaurant is quite dark; plates are illuminated by a small light inside the “dashboard” of the convertible-style booth. I didn’t get a good look at my food until I looked at my flash photo later on! And while the Sheppard’s Pie was delicious, it doesn’t actually look all that appealing, does it?
The service was very good. The other couple in our booth (the front of the car) had some dietary concerns and our shared server did a great job accommodating them, including having the chef pay them a visit.
